The Reserve

The Oriented Nature Reserve "Bosco di Malabotta" is established by Decree of the Regional Department of Land and Environment number 477/44 of July 25, 1997 in order to protect the Aquifolio-fagetum plant formations, deciduous oak forests and riparian and hygrophilous vegetation and numerous arthropod endemisms.

Habitat, Flora and Fauna

Extensive deciduous Cerrete associated with Beech, Chestnut, Maple and beautiful Holly shrubs dominate in the Reserve. It is characterized by the presence of the rare extrazonal Beech forests. The fauna is well represented, characterized by a resident avifauna, diurnal raptors (Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, etc.), mammals and numerous endemic arthropods. Endemic Trout are present in the waters of Licopeti Stream.
